What is franz.?
franz. is the very first international student competition in sports, where you, undergraduate and graduate students, have direct access to the world’s preeminent sports institutions. Its aim is not to produce concepts and slides that will disappear into a drawer once the competition is over. We want you, top students from leading schools around the world, to bring fresh ideas that will be taken up by CAMP BECKENBAUER and its partners. Your ideas will shape the future of sports. Join us and grasp this opportunity to discuss your ideas with top decision-makers in sports!
franz. is part of CAMP BECKENBAUER
franz. is named after Franz Beckenbauer and is a vital part of CAMP BECKENBAUER – a year-round project that focuses on the upcoming challenges in sports and associated areas in business, the media, and politics. Overall, CAMP BECKENBAUER and its top-level partners aim to become the most authoritative institution in the world of sports, evoking new ways of thinking and achieving real impact. Developing such solutions with decision-makers in sports is not enough. We need fresh and provoking ideas from the young generation. We want you, the best brains from around the world.

“Sport has achieved a lot, it scores great success but also faces challenges. Innovating is critical for change and improvement in sports. To come up with provoking new ideas, we need you, the young generation.”Marcus Höfl
How to be part
Apply now to secure a spot in the competition! This year’s topic is: How to win the Chinese customer for your favorite sport?
The Chinese sport markets are growing faster and faster from year to year. Meanwhile an increasing interest for sport related topics can be experience in the Chinese population. Therefore, for the franz. competition 2017, we ask to work on ideas of how to win the Chinese customer in China for your favorite sport; ideas that can be implemented at any place in the sporting value chain, e.g., on the pitch, in stadium, how you interact with fans, with media, or with corporate partners keeping in mind the cultural, economic and political differences/specifics in China.
Your task – Round I
1) Form a team of up to four students. Please note that your team composition cannot change over the course of the competition.
2) Pick one sport or discipline.
3) Develop innovative ideas on the topic of how to win the Chinese consumer for your favorite sport.
Your task – Round II
If you convinced the CAMP BECKENBAUER experts of your idea in Round I, you will get the chance to fine-tune your idea.
For Round II, we will ask you to develop a 2-minute video to promote your idea. Think of your target audience at the CAMP BECKENBAUER Global Summit and lay out your idea in catchy words: Everyone should understand it and you should underline it with memorable visuals. We recommend to include hard facts (what do I gain from taking on this idea?) and to incorporate a “call for action“ – enticing some action from the viewers. Further specific details are provided to all teams participating in Round II.
